Thank you for your message. When a gTLD domain name is first registered, it cannot be transferred for 60 days. That’s a no-exceptions ICANN policy included in the Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy and the functional specifications of each registry agreement (see for example section 3.1.1 of the functional specs for .com at: http://www.icann.org/tlds/agreements/verisign/appendix-07-01mar06.htm). When a domain name is transferred from one registrar to another, the gaining registrar has the right to deny outgoing transfers for 60 days, but is not required to. You can find this rule in the Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy, located at http://www.icann.org/transfers/policy-12jul04.htm. Specifically, I refer to item number 9 in section A.3.

I hope this is helpful.

Regards,

ICANN Services

Dear Richard Angulo, (Customer ID:)

Thank you for contacting us. We can manually acknowledge the transfer to godaddy prior to the end of
the 60 day transfer lock as the domain will be going back to it’s
previous registrar.

Please let us know if you wish us to manually override this lock.

Thank you.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Dear Sir/Madam:

Thank you for your inquiry. However, the Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy, applicable to all ICANN-accredited registrars, provides that the registered name holders must be able to transfer their domain name registrations between registrars. You must wait 60 days after the initial registration or any previous transfers to initiate a transfer.

Regards,

ICANN Services

What to consider when transferring domain to 1and1.com

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

1. 1and1.com DOES NOT offer SPF (Sender Policy Framework) for SMTP shared server email.

2. Email Spoofing can become a serious problem overnight. My research as concluded that apart from changing password (which does not seem to help), SPF (Sender Policy Framework) seems to be the only defense; unless one wants to pay more for dedicated server or Exchange hosting.

3. You will be locked in for 60 days! ICANN transfer policy reads:

A domain name is within 60 days (or a lesser period to be determined) after being transferred (apart from being transferred back to the original Registrar in cases where both Registrars so agree and/or where a decision in the dispute resolution process so directs).

See ICANN Transfer Policy

Closing comments: My decision to use 1and1.com rather than GoDaddy.com was WordPress driven; GoDaddy.com now overs WordPress hosting. In several years with GoDaddy.com my email was never spoofed; since transferring domain and email to 1and1.com around 30 days ago my email is spoofed weekly.

Email Spoofing forces transfer of domains back to GoDaddy.com from 1and1.com

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Email spoofing has forced me back to GoDaddy.com, now that GoDaddy.com can host my WordPress websites. I never had a problem with anyone spoofing my email until I move domains and email to 1and1.com. My research on spoofing has led me to conclude that SPF (Sender Policy Framework) is the reason. GoDaddy.com offers it and 1and1,com does NOT. Initiated transfer and will update.

How To Stop Email Spoofing With TrustedSource.org

Made by Davidstrom2007
TrustedSource and other sites are used to answer questions such as – is someone sending spam that looks like it is coming from my domain, called spoofing? Has my Web site been compromised recently? Do I have an open relay email server that I don’t know about? The Internet is a nasty place, and the idea that a service can be watching globally for exploits is a good one.
