Comcast implements new customer service plan; don’t answer or hang up!

Friday, March 4th, 2011

With service outages throughout Broward County, FL Comcast seem to have stuck its head in a hole by not answering customer calls or hanging up when they do answer.

Who is regulating Comcast?

Has Comcast gotten to big?

Are the service being offered ad the technologies beyond the companies capabilities and abilities?

Is this outage further proof that customers should not all their services with one provider?

Ever since Comcast introduced Digital Voice; I think so and it is only a matter of time before something must change at Comcast with the municipalities deal with them.

UNSTOPPABLE Gigi Stetler will be at the Miami Book Fair International Street Fair signing books this Friday, Saturday and Sunday November 19th, 20th and 21st.

Friday, November 19th, 2010

UNSTOPPABLE! SURVIVING IS JUST THE BEGINNING… Author, Motivational Speaker and Business Woman Gigi Stetler will be at the Miami Book Fair International Street Fair signing books this Friday, Saturday and Sunday November 19th, 20th and 21st.

Gigi’s story is about a girl who wouldn’t give up. It reads like a best seller, replete with plot twists, shady characters and a heroine with many layers. A father figure mentor who gave her a chance later stabbed her in the back, an attacker who literally stabbed her 21 times and left her for dead and success in an industry that conspired to keep her out. In every instance, where Gigi was knocked down, she got up, brushed herself off, and came back stronger than ever. Gigi says, “I kept my sights on my goal even when it seemed like a never-ending nightmare. No one and nothing was going to stop me from that goal.”

A single mom that didn’t finish the 10th grade, Gigi became a queen of the male-dominated recreation vehicles industry, presiding over the $18 million-a-year RV Sales of Broward as the first female owner of an RV dealership in the country. She redefined the climate of the RV industry and became an inspiration to women everywhere. Gigi says, “My road to success has been more of a motocross obstacle course – full of peaks and valleys, dips and hurdles – rather than a paved highway to triumph. Every inch of success took fortitude and massive perseverance.”

Nothing has changed for this tough-as-nails businesswoman. After exposing an industry-wide lending scam, was pressured and bullied, but refused to sell out. Lenders retaliated and RV Sales of Broward was pronounced financially dead in September 2008. Gigi says, “I won’t stay down. I’ve been crawling and scratching my way back, never giving up, and always staying true to who I am.”

Asked what makes a person unstoppable? Gigi says, “I’m sure it’s different for each individual, but in my case I simply don’t look back at some of the most unconscionable, ruthless things that have happened to me, and I don’t waste time feeling sorry for myself. The word victim is not in my consciousness. If anything, I use those contemptible events to strengthen my future.” In addition to pulling RV Sales of Broward out of the ashes, and becoming a business consultant, motivational speaker, Gigi is launching her line of all natural supplements under the brand My Perfect Bones. Gigi says, “I am set on bringing my “unstoppable” message of hope and survival to anyone who is facing hard times.” Her message is simple yet powerful: only you direct your own present and your own future – “Greet life as a warrior, not a victim.” (ISBN 978-0-615-40507-0, 215 pp, pb, $24.95)

Participation in outdoor recreation shows encouraging growth

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Greg Gerber posted on May 21, 2010 13:21

WASHINGTON – In 2009, American participation in outdoor recreation was marked by encouraging growth in important segments of core outdoor activities, according to a new report, Outdoor Recreation Participation Top Line Report for 2010, released today by Outdoor Foundation.

The 2010 Topline Report details recent participation trends in outdoor recreation for Americans ages 6 and older and illustrates ongoing adjustments in American lifestyles brought about by the challenging economy and changing demographics.

Initial data from the study shows that general participation in “core” outdoor sports and activities increased 3.3 percent to 100.7 million participants. Cost-effective categories continued with strong increases. Those activities that can be “done in a day” and fit in with busy schedules continued to post increases in activity: camping, hiking, running and bicycling.

The economy in 2009 had a major impact on spending in sports, fitness and recreation. Only more than 4.5% percent of active participants said they had spent more than in 2008, with the biggest decreases coming from equipment and travel. However, looking forward to 2010, there are positive signs with significant numbers of respondents set to increase spending in those categories.

“We see the economy driving people back to nature. This has tremendous implications for health and wellness issues surrounding the sharp increases in childhood obesity,” said Christine Fanning, executive director of Outdoor Foundation. “Outdoor recreation is finally being recognized as part of the solution. Our position is that nature should be the first prescription.”

Overall activity levels illustrates that while 77 percent percent of Americans age 6 and older took part in at least one activity that left 64 million people who are inactive. Over 50 percent of Americans take part in no activities at all or are infrequent participants.

The study also shows that activities at school age have shown to be a major factor in determining future outdoor recreation participant levels. While three quarters of respondents took part in physical education at school, just over a third took part in outdoor activities. Physical education at school continues to be a pathway to an active adulthood.

With the vital outdoor recreational information detailed within the study, Outdoor Foundation provides youth organizations, public agencies, businesses and non-profits with insights needed to increase outdoor participation. Effective outreach programs and creative campaigns must be top priorities for every sector of society if we are to inspire and grow the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts.

“While it is certainly encouraging to see an increase in participation in some important recreation categories, more must be done to help youth reclaim, redefine and rediscover the outdoors,” continued Fanning, noting that it’s been four years since the Richard Louv’s seminal book “Last Child in the Woods” was published. “Our new program, Outdoor Nation, and our first Youth Summit in New York in June is a way for CEOs to start thinking about investing in the next generation of outdoor industry executives and launching programs to support youth in the outdoors.”

Outdoor Foundation’s 2010 Outdoor Recreation Participation Topline Report details Americans’ participation in outdoor activities from 2008 to 2009. The report is a high level overview of the foundation’s full participation report, which will be released later this year with expanded data and full analysis.

Outdoor Foundation’s Outdoor Recreation Participation Report is the only detailed study of its kind tracking American participation trends in outdoor recreation. The study is based on an on-line survey capturing responses from more than 40,000, Americans ages 6 and older and covers a variety of outdoor activities.
